1 Pilot Drilling
It is the first stage in the directional drilling. It consists of executing a borehole following the line previously designed. It can be possible the soil erosion by means of a head adapted to the ground features, injecting high-pressure drilling fluid, digging and removing the detritus, simultaneously, to the entry point. The pilot drilling may have turns on elevation plan, in order to avoid the existing utilities and obstacles, and to reach the planned exit point. Usually, two small pits are dug in the starting and exit point respectively, with the purpose of containing the drilling fluid, so as to be pumped and recirculated.
