Domènec Pintó, General Manager of Catalana de Perforacions, attended the inauguration of A Mariña Lucense Gas pipeline last Monday 9th of February. In this event, special emphasis was laid on the work of Catalana de Perforacions, since it was necessary the longest and deepest directional drilling in recent years to protect Rio Grande area, almost 1 kilometer long and deeper than 70 m, with extremely hard ground. It should be also mentioned that the president of Gas Natural Fenosa, Mr. Salvador Gabarró, put emphasis on the works executed by Catalana de Perforacions, valuing the great effort and the challenge of engineering in record time.
In this project, it was executed 2 Horizontals Directional Drillings for the installation of a Ø16” steel pipeline and one pipe of Ø4” in parallel. Due to the depth of the sedimentary zone and the hardness of the ground 3 special heads of tungsten had to be replaced.
