Neodren®

NEODREN® Seawater catchment

Seawater catchment system developed by Catalana de Perforacions

Neodren®, a new method of seawater catchment

Only 3% of the planet’s water is fresh; however, what if we told you that using the “Neodren®” system, it would be possible to increase that 3%?

The patent designed by Catalana de Perforacions, Neodren®, is a major innovation in the method of seawater collection.

Intro 01 - Neodren

By combining the horizontal directional drilling technique and the Neodren® system, it is possible to install horizontal drains in the permeable layer of the marine subsoil, thus capturing water with no turbidity, with a constant flow and good quality.

The innovative seawater catchment system reduces costs and environmental impact and also cares for the fauna and flora of the seabed.

Uses

  • Desalination
  • Cooling
  • Fish farms
  • Tourist resorts
  • Chemical and petrochemical processes
  • Material processing plants
  • Heavy oil recovery

Avantages of Neodren®

  • EFFECTIVE

    • Allows high quality water to be collected and facilitates the water purification process
    • The installation of drains in the subsurface of the seabed results in no erosion of the drain by dynamic marine action
    • The constant water flow eliminates the natural and anthropogenic turbidity of the seawater
    • Thanks to the collection of groundwater, it is always kept at the same temperature
    • Geological formation selected to ensure permanent replenishment of the aquifer and continuous extraction of large quantities of water

  • ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

    • Thanks to the horizontal directional drilling system, no marine intrusion is caused on the mainland
    • There are also no physical or biological effects on the coastline and marine habitat
    • Total elimination of the seabed trenching system
    • Freshwater aquifers are not affected in any way

  • FAST

    • Surface drilling rig placement without the need for earthworks
    • Water collection point can be located in a confined space
    • No construction of breakwaters, blasting or seabed drainage is required
