Burying of the larger high-voltage power line in South America by HDD

CATALANA DE PERFORACIONS S.A. successfully completed the burying of the high-voltage power line (115kV) connecting the electrical substations of La Chorrera and El Torno in Panama.
The project was a turnkey contract (EPC), from the investigation, design, and supply phases to the construction and assembly of the 2.680 metres pipeline by 11 horizontal directional drillings (HDD). Finally, 4 connection chambers and 5 laying chambers were installed, and the transitions between chambers and HDDs were also built.
The channelling is a simple 115kV circuit to install a bigger pipe of PE100 Ø560mmPN10, inside which three pipes of PE100 Ø200mmPN16, and two pipes of PE100 Ø110mmPN16 pipes were subducted.
Three drilling rigs were simultaneously used to enable us to work in three stretches of the electrical line at the same time, and thus, to execute the horizontal drillings before the beginning of the rainy season in the country.
