Horizontal
Directional Drilling

The solution for underwater installations

Horizontal Directional Drilling is an advanced technique when it comes to subsea installations

Horizontal directional drilling, known as the Shore Approach, is an advanced technique used for subsea installations and pipelines under the seabed without the need for trenching.

This technique allows us to connect the first marine section, where the greatest marine dynamics are found, thus completing the connection between land and sea. This makes it possible to drill long distances with great accuracy, controlling the drill path at all times.

Drilling characteristics

The Horizontal Directional Drilling technique for land-sea connections for subsea installations allows us to:

LENGTH:
– Minimum lengths: 10-12m
– Maximum lengths: 1.300m with a single equipment (to be consulted according to the diameter of the pipe to be installed)

DIAMETER:
– Minimum diameter: 40mm
– Maximum diameter: 1.400mm

PRECISION:
Will depend on the ground to be drilled and the length of pipe to be installed. Slopes of up to 1,5% are possible.

Uses

  • Electrical connections between islands
  • Offshore oil and gas pipelines on offshore platforms
  • Electrical infrastructures
  • Drinking water supply
  • Sewage systems
  • Fibre optics

Advantages of subsea installations with HDD

  • EFFECTIVE AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY SOLUTION

Avoids trenching in the intertidal stretch where the greatest marine dynamics are found, while helping to preserve marine fauna and flora and the coastal landscape.

  • FAST

Streamlines permit procedures, reduces critical works and construction costs, shortens execution times, without compromising on high performance.

  • MULTIDISCIPLINARY, COMPACT AND MODULAR EQUIPMENT

Facilitates installation in small spaces and guarantees maximum safety for operators.
